The Institute is located on the first and second basement floor of J-Building. The first basement floor (known as "Collaboration Zone") consists of: (1) receptionist and office of the Institute; (2) a common room where all staff of the Institute can meet regularly for formal and informal meetings, having meal, tea break and study group with general public about particular issues of the moment; (3) a formal meeting room and (4) offices of two of the senior research fellows. If you have any inquiries about the Institute, please come first to the receptionist of the Institute on this floor.
The second basement floor has another two rooms as offices of another two senior research fellows and the library of the Institute. This library is separated from the University main library. It has around 21,000 books: 8,500 in Japanese and 12,500 in English and other foreign languages. In addition, there is a collection of 3,850 volumes of important literature on ethical issues related to social science and 7,491 volumes on Catholic social ethics, both of which were respectively donated by Professor Shoji Matsuyama and Professor Akira Mizunami. The faculty members, students and the public, including visitors, are welcome to visit and to borrow books from the library.
